Miranda de la Cruz, Founder, and CEO
Miranda de la Cruz is a licensed therapist who was inspired to open La Mirada Watch-Tower by her own substance abuse struggles. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Clinical Therapy and has had her private practice for over ten years. Besides being the founder and CEO of La Mirada Watch-Tower, de la Cruz also works as a therapist for individual and group sessions at the center. Her autobiography about her addiction and the founding of La Mirada will be released next year, titled “The Watch-Tower.”
Dr. Latha Kumar, Medical Director
Dr. Latha Kumar is a board-certified medical doctor with over 20 years of experience in addiction treatment and detoxification. She received her MD from the Emory University School of Medicine. She oversees and directs the medical treatment of patients. She can prescribe and dispense medication both for the detoxification process and for ongoing mental wellness. Dr. Latha speaks multiple languages and has collaborated on several medical and psychology textbooks on the treatment of addiction.
Rachel O’Brien, Director of Admissions
Rachel O’Brien is a licensed social worker with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, with a professional background in customer service, healthcare, and insurance. Consultations for admission are done through Ms. O’Brien. She is highly socially and culturally conscious and strives for the comfort of patients and their families throughout the admissions process and beyond. She enjoys making personal connections with patients and helping accommodate any special needs they may require during treatment.
